Four free concerts are headed to Montgomery's historic Universalist Church this fall, and registration for the first two opens Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026, at 9 a.m.

The Montgomery Arts Commission announced its 17th season of Live at the Uni, a series that has brought neighbors into the 1837 church on Montgomery Road for intimate evening performances. All four shows begin at 7 p.m., run about an hour and cost nothing to attend, though voluntary donations are appreciated.

All shows are free.

The lineup, according to the city's events page:

Tuesday, Sept. 29: Saxophonist Rick VanMatre and his jazz quintet. VanMatre, an adjunct professor emeritus at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, was inducted into the Cincinnati Jazz Hall of Fame in 2018 and has been named "Best Jazz Musician" by Cincinnati Magazine.

Tuesday, Oct. 13: No Promises, a Cincinnati-based professional a cappella ensemble formed in 2015. The group won CityBeat's "Best of Cincinnati" award in 2017 and 2022. Cincinnati Enquirer critic David Lyman wrote that "their harmony is tight, their arrangements are delightfully eclectic … they sound like a cross between the Four Freshmen and Pentatonix."

Tuesday, Nov. 10: StringSource performs a tribute to ABBA and Queen.

Sunday, Dec. 13: Cincinnati Jazz Hall of Fame vocalist Mandy Gaines and Friends close the season with a collection of holiday favorites.

Registration for the Sept. 29 and Oct. 13 concerts opens Sept. 2. The Nov. 10 show opens for registration Oct. 14, and the Dec. 13 finale opens Nov. 11. All registration windows begin at 9 a.m.

The series is funded in part by the Ohio Arts Council. Greg Leader chairs the seven-member volunteer commission that organizes the programming, with recreation director Julie Machon serving as staff liaison.

Concerts take place at the Universalist Church, 9471 Montgomery Road. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970. Residents with questions can call Montgomery City Hall at 513-891-2424.
