Blue Ash residents can donate blood at the Blue Ash Municipal Building on Monday, Oct. 26, from 9 to 11 a.m.
The City of Blue Ash and Hoxworth Blood Center, the University of Cincinnati's regional blood service, are co-hosting the drive at 4343 Cooper Road. A donor bus will be parked on site, according to the city's event listing. Every donor receives a Hoxworth blanket.
Appointments are available in 15-minute slots starting at 9 a.m., with the last slot at 11 a.m., according to Hoxworth's online schedule. The schedule shows 12 whole-blood slots and two red-cell donation slots across the two-hour window. Deanna Darrah is coordinating the drive.
Spots were still open as of Friday, Oct. 16. To book, visit Hoxworth's scheduling page or call (513) 451-0910.
Hoxworth has been urging Tri-State residents to donate amid broader supply concerns. Ashley Smith of Hoxworth told FOX 19 on Oct. 11 that Hurricane Isaias had displaced Gulf Coast donors and could strain regional supplies. "Those donors across the Gulf Coast are not going to be able to make their appointments, so we might be relied upon to backfill," Smith said in that interview.
Hoxworth is part of Blood Emergency Readiness Corp, a network that places donation organizations on call when shortages arise. The blood center, based in Cincinnati, supplies hospitals across the region.
