City Arborist Mike Rogers will lead a free nature walk for up to 10 children at Montgomery's Dulle Park on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Kids' Tree and Nature Walk runs from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the park, located at 10530 Deerfield Road. Children ages 5 to 9 will explore the park and its creeks and take part in a craft activity, according to the city's event listing.

Registration is free and required for each child. Parents are encouraged to join the walk and craft.

The 10-child cap means spots could fill quickly.

Tree Explorer workbooks

Families looking for more tree education beyond the Nov. 3 walk can pick up the city's free Tree Explorer program workbooks. Available for ages 2 to 5 and ages 6 and up, the self-guided workbooks teach children about local Montgomery trees through activities they can complete at their own pace, according to the city's Tree Explorer page.

Workbooks are available online and at Montgomery City Hall, 10101 Montgomery Road. Children who complete a workbook can turn it in at City Hall and receive a certificate and patch.

Montgomery's park system spans more than 96 acres of green space across eight parks and a nature preserve, connected by more than 30 miles of sidewalks.
