Montgomery's Holiday in the Village returns Saturday, Dec. 5, with a tree lighting, Santa visits, horse-and-carriage rides and a toy drive spread across the Heritage District and Montgomery Quarter.
The evening begins at 5 p.m. with the Holiday Tree Lighting ceremony at the Neuilly Plaisance Fountain, at the corner of Cooper and Montgomery Roads. Carolers in Victorian costumes lead a countdown during the ceremony, which runs until 5:30 p.m. The fountain is named for Montgomery's French sister city, Neuilly-Plaisance, a partnership established in 1987.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., the Historic Universalist Church at Montgomery and Remington Roads hosts North Pole Workshops running until 7:30 p.m. Families can visit Santa, make crafts at Mrs. Claus' Workshop, ride a horse-drawn carriage, stop by the photo stop on stage and grab hot chocolate. Free gifts and refreshments are included.
Bethesda North Hospital is running an "All Aboard!" station with holiday model train displays, free hot chocolate and a free gift for children. Twin Lakes Davies Center hosts "Crafting Holiday Cheer," where visitors can make a keepsake while listening to festive music and enjoying treats.
The "Winter Magic" segment at Montgomery Quarter Park, 9260 Montgomery Road, runs from 5 to 8 p.m. The city's event page lists a walk-in snow globe photo spot, inflatable activities for kids and decorated classic Model A cars on display. The city introduced the expanded Montgomery Quarter programming in 2025.
Toy donations are welcome. Organizers are asking attendees at Montgomery Quarter to bring a new, unwrapped toy to support Operation Give Back (OGB), a Cincinnati-area nonprofit whose mission centers on educational equity and community outreach for students and families in need. In 2025, OGB served 5,350 people through its food pantry and provided clothing and toys to 1,500 children, according to its website.
The main Heritage District activities wrap at 7:30 p.m., though Montgomery Quarter stays open until 8 p.m. Residents can call Montgomery City Hall at 513-891-2424 for details.
