The Blue Ash Parks & Recreation Foundation drew a sold-out crowd to its first Community Dinner Under the Canopy at Summit Park on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The evening event, held from 6 to 10 p.m. beneath the park's canopy structure at 4335 Glendale Milford Road, featured food from Summit Park restaurants, drinks and live music. Each ticket included a catered dinner and two drink tickets, according to the event's ticket listing on Humanitix.

The event sold out.

Summit Park's official X account said Sept. 21 that the evening brought the community together while raising funds for the foundation. Photos posted by the account showed guests seated at tables, two men speaking at a podium and the event team posing beside a dinner sign.

Summit Park's Instagram account promoted the dinner ahead of time as a celebration of the foundation's launch, describing it as an evening dedicated to supporting the future of Blue Ash parks, recreation and public spaces.

The dinner falls under Summit Park's broader Under the Canopy programming series, which also hosts free story times, live music and other events throughout the year. That series received a $5,600 Catalyzing Impact grant from ArtsWave in February to support a Cultural Connections Series, according to Summit Park's website.

Brittany Griffin, Summit Park's program and events manager, said in a Feb. 24 statement about the ArtsWave grant that the funding helps "expand our 'Under the Canopy' series by bringing more cultural experiences to Summit Park."

Summit Park restaurants that catered the dinner include Alcove by MadTree, which opened at the park on Aug. 11. A portion of Alcove's revenue goes to Blue Ash Parks and Recreation to help maintain Summit Park, according to the park's announcement of the restaurant's opening.

The foundation has not announced a total amount raised or whether a second dinner is planned. Residents can find more information at the Blue Ash Parks & Recreation Foundation's website.
