Hamilton County deputies found a missing Texas teenager at a Symmes Township gas station Thursday, Nov. 5, and arrested a man accompanying her.

Deputies responded to a report of panhandling at a Speedway on Montgomery Road, according to the sheriff’s office as reported by WLWT. The station identifies the location as Symmes Township.

The teenager had been reported missing from Houston on Nov. 1, according to a sheriff’s office release cited by WCPO.

Man arrested

Authorities identified the man as Brandon McClerkin, 31, a registered sex offender from Texas. WLWT reported that deputies charged him with interference with custody and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

WCPO’s account described the charges as possible. WLWT’s report, updated late Nov. 5, stated that he had been charged.

McClerkin was taken to the Hamilton County Justice Center pending arraignment, WLWT reported. The reports reviewed for this article did not provide an arraignment outcome.

The sheriff’s office said it planned to reunite the teenager with her family once arrangements could be made.
