A Georgia man and a 17-year-old are facing felony charges after they allegedly smashed display cases and stole $123,200 in watches from the Watches of Switzerland store at Kenwood Towne Centre.

Jordan Maurice Grimes, 25, of Douglasville, Georgia, and the unidentified juvenile entered the store at about 7:15 p.m. on July 21, according to court documents filed in Hamilton County. A criminal complaint states Grimes used a hammer to break the glass and grab the merchandise. Police radio traffic described the tools as sledgehammers. The pair then fled through the Nordstrom store and exited the mall on the Montgomery Road side.

Two women told WLWT their husbands, both armed with guns, chased the suspects on foot and came face-to-face with them at one point. One suspect asked where his brother was before the pair took off again.

The store sits at 7875 Montgomery Road, on Level 2 of the mall near Nordstrom.

Flock camera leads to arrest

Hamilton County deputies tracked the suspects' vehicle after it registered a hit on a Flock camera, an automated license plate reader, in Warren County, according to a Hamilton County arrest report. Both were taken to the Mason Police Department for questioning.

Grimes was then transported to the Hamilton County Justice Center, where his bail was set at $22,500.

Charges

Criminal complaints filed with Hamilton County Municipal Court show Grimes faces four charges: theft, tampering with evidence, possessing criminal tools, and criminal damaging. A separate complaint states he attempted to hide more than $100,000 in stolen watches from investigators. Court documents indicate cameras were used to identify him.

The 17-year-old suspect, whose identity has not been released because of juvenile privacy protections, faces charges of criminal damaging and felony theft.
