Blue Ash Nature Park opens its trails to costumed kids and families on Saturday, Oct. 24, for the annual Halloween Walk in the Woods.
The free event runs from noon to 3 p.m. and is open to everyone, though it is geared toward children ages 10 and younger, according to Blue Ash Parks and Recreation. Families can explore the park's wooded trails, where costumed characters hand out treats along the way.
Halloween-themed photo spots will be set up throughout the park, and refreshments will be available for purchase at the Nature Park concession stand.
Costumes are encouraged but not required.
The event goes on rain or shine, so families can plan around the date without worrying about a weather cancellation.
The City of Blue Ash promoted the walk on X, inviting families to "wear your favorite costume, meet friendly characters on the trail, and get treats along the way."
The Walk in the Woods is a separate event from the area's official trick-or-treat nights, which fall a week later on Saturday, Oct. 31. According to a WLWT schedule of Cincinnati-area trick-or-treat times, Blue Ash and Montgomery both set their trick-or-treat hours for Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. Several neighboring communities share the same date and window, including Indian Hill, Mason and West Chester.
Families looking to make the most of the Halloween season in Blue Ash and Montgomery have two weekends of activities on the calendar. The Walk in the Woods on Oct. 24 offers a daytime, trail-based outing for younger children, while Oct. 31 trick-or-treat brings the traditional neighborhood door-to-door experience after dark.
