Sycamore Township trustees hold their first regular meeting since approving a joint economic development district with Reading on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. The session takes place at the Township Administration Building, 8540 Kenwood Road, and is open to the public. It will be live-streamed on WatchSycamoreTownship.com.

The township had not posted a formal agenda as of Monday, Sept. 14. Residents can check sycamoretownship.org for updates before the meeting.

At the board's Sept. 1 session, Chairman Tom Weidman, Vice-Chairman Tracy Kellums and Trustee Tracy Schwegmann voted unanimously to approve Resolution 2026-065, creating the Sycamore Township–City of Reading Joint Economic Development District (JEDD).

The Reading JEDD covers three retail-zoned parcels along Reading Road and Chaucer Drive, all within Sycamore Township. The contract authorizes an income tax of up to 2 percent on earnings and net profits of businesses inside the district. The initial term runs through Dec. 31, 2056, with two optional 10-year extensions.

Under Ohio law, the JEDD does not take effect until at least 31 days after the Hamilton County Commissioners approve the contract. That approval has not yet been announced.

Also at the Sept. 1 meeting, trustees proclaimed September Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in Sycamore Township.

The township's Fall 2026 newsletter reports $4.4 million in grant-funded road and sidewalk work underway. Crews are building new sidewalks along Snider Road from Bridlemaker Lane south to Kemper Road and along Baen and Deerfield Roads connecting the Robert Schuler Athletic Complex to East Kemper Road. East Kemper Road is also being fully resurfaced from Snider Road west to the township border.

"For the 31 years I have been with Sycamore Township, both in Zoning and as your Trustee, I have worked to add sidewalks to make our community more pedestrian-friendly," Weidman wrote in the Fall 2026 newsletter.
