Sycamore Township residents who lost tree limbs or suffered yard damage in the July 17–18 storms can get free curbside debris pickup, but they must register by 8 a.m. Wednesday.

The township declared a storm-damage emergency on Monday in response to severe storms that hit the area on Friday night and Saturday. The declaration triggers a complimentary pickup program for residents who report damage before the deadline.

This is not a township-wide collection. Only residents who call 513-791-8447 or submit the online form at sycamoretownship.org by the Wednesday morning cutoff will qualify.

How to sign up

Residents should call the township line or fill out the online request form even if their debris isn't at the curb yet. The township said it will allow two weeks from the deadline, giving residents until approximately Tuesday, August 5, to get material to the curb. Once it's ready, residents call back to confirm.

The township asks that storm debris be placed unbagged at the curb with the cut sides of branches facing the street. Debris should not be mixed with leaves.

Free brush chipping on August 1

For residents who miss the Wednesday deadline or prefer to haul their own debris, the township will host a free brush-chipping day on Saturday, August 1, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot behind the Township Administration Building at 8540 Kenwood Road.

Part of a broader storm event

The July 17–18 storms were part of a severe weather system that dumped up to five inches of rain across the Greater Cincinnati area, according to WVXU reporting. The Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati received more than 900 reports of sewer backups and basement flooding from the same storm system.
