Sycamore Township trustees declared seven properties nuisances on Tuesday, Sept. 1, ordering owners to clean up overgrown yards and debris or face cleanup costs on their tax bills.
The unanimous vote on Resolution 2026-063 marks the second round of nuisance declarations in less than a month. Trustees Tom Weidman, Tracy Kellums and Tracy Schwegmann all voted in favor.
Six properties were cited for tall, uncontrolled vegetation. One, at 4556 Lamont Ave., was cited for junk, rubbish and garbage.

Under the resolution, owners have seven days after receiving notice to remove the violations. If they don't, the township's zoning administrator can hire contractors to do the work. The cost, plus administrative fees, gets billed to the property's tax account through the Hamilton County Auditor.
The authority comes from Ohio Revised Code Section 505.87, which governs township nuisance abatement. That same statute shortens the notice window to four days if the same owner's property is found to be a nuisance again within 12 months.
Township inspectors photographed at least some of the properties in late August. Photos included in the resolution packet are dated Aug. 24 and Aug. 25.
The Sept. 1 action follows a similar resolution on Aug. 11, when trustees unanimously declared seven different properties nuisances. That batch, Resolution 2026-059, targeted addresses on St. Clair Ave., Kugler Mill Rd., Wexford Ave., Euclid Dr., Stillwind Dr. and Kenwood Rd. Planning and Zoning Administrator Harry Holbert Jr. presented that resolution to the board, according to the Aug. 11 meeting minutes.
As we reported Aug. 12, that earlier round also gave owners seven days to comply.
Minutes from the Sept. 1 meeting have not yet been posted, so it is unclear whether trustees discussed the resolution before voting. Residents can check the township website for upcoming meeting dates and agendas.
