Sycamore's Week 3 road game at Hamilton still had a 7 p.m. kickoff as of Thursday, Sept. 3, even as a heat wave forced at least 10 other Greater Cincinnati high school football games to start later Friday.

WCPO 9 Cincinnati reported that athletic directors shifted Friday kickoff times for games including Milford at Winton Woods (8 p.m.), Kings at Loveland (7:30 p.m.) and Little Miami at Anderson (7:45 p.m.). The Cincinnati Enquirer's Week 3 schedule listed the Aviators at the standard 7 p.m. WCPO said it would continue updating the list Friday morning, and athletic directors often make heat-related decisions the night before or the morning of game day.

The pattern started Thursday. Hughes pushed its home game against Roger Bacon at Stargel Stadium from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. "We are keeping our student safety as the top priority," Hughes athletic director Andrew Mueller told WCPO on Wednesday, Sept. 2, when the school announced the change.

A heat advisory remained in effect through Saturday, Sept. 5, according to WLWT. Wednesday's high hit 95 degrees at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, the warmest reading there in 2026, FOX19 reported. Thursday's feels-like temperatures reached 100 to 105 degrees, and Friday's heat index is forecast near 100. Area teams held early-morning practices or moved indoors during the week to avoid the worst conditions.

Relief is coming. FOX19 meteorologist Brad Maushart said scattered storms could arrive late Friday morning, with more comfortable mid-80s temperatures expected by Sunday, Sept. 6, and Labor Day Monday, Sept. 7.

The Aviators head to Hamilton looking to rebound. Sycamore lost to Kings 34-6 in Week 1 and to Mason 43-24 in Week 2's Battle of the Skies rivalry game. Quarterback Zachary Branam threw for 346 yards and four touchdowns in the Mason loss, completing 26 of 35 passes, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Sycamore kicks off at Hamilton at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, unless a late schedule change is announced.
