Montgomery's Beautification and Tree Commission is bringing a hands-on succulent class to Terwilliger Lodge this fall, with only 30 spots and a registration window that opens in less than a month.
The program, titled "Getting to the Point: The Art of Growing Succulents," is set for Wednesday, October 14, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Terwilliger Lodge, 10530 Deerfield Road. The cost is $25 per person. Registration opens Saturday, August 15.
Experts from Succulent Garden Gifts, a shop at 816 Main St. in Milford, will lead the evening. The city's listing says the session will cover succulent care basics, tips for keeping the plants healthy and ways to incorporate them into home décor. The 30-person cap means the class will fill quickly once sign-ups go live.
The event is part of the B&T Talks Speaker Series, a recurring program the Beautification and Tree Commission runs at Terwilliger Lodge. The commission, which advises the mayor and City Council on beautification efforts in Montgomery, also sponsors Plant Swaps, Basket Planting workshops, and the annual Garden Tour, according to the city's February 2025 bulletin.
Other B&T Talks this year have included a backyard birding presentation on Thursday, April 9, and a native pollinators session scheduled for Thursday, October 8.
