A fatal overdose in Blue Ash in March has been linked to a dark web drug operation run out of North Carolina, according to an FBI affidavit filed in federal court.

Alexander Green, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, faces two federal charges: conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute controlled substances, and distribution of controlled substances. Green was arrested July 23 in North Carolina and turned over to the U.S. Marshals on July 24, according to federal court filings reported by FOX19.

Green waived his right to hearings in North Carolina and agreed to be transferred to Cincinnati to face charges. No arraignment date has been publicly announced.

The case began after suspected fatal overdoses in Blue Ash and in Clearcreek Township in Warren County in March 2026, according to the FBI affidavit. At the Blue Ash scene, investigators collected wrappers with powder residue and drug paraphernalia. At both locations, they found USPS packages bearing the same return name and address traced to a man in North Carolina.

The Hamilton County Heroin Task Force, the U.S. Postal Service, and the FBI-led Southern Ohio Digital Organized Crime Group collaborated on the case.

According to the affidavit, Green admitted he operated a dark web drug shop called "Starlabs" and conspired with others to obtain and sell heroin, methamphetamine, and counterfeit pills for cryptocurrency, shipping them through the U.S. mail from North Carolina into Ohio and other states.

Agents subpoenaed a label reseller and obtained shipping data tied to the overdose-scene parcels, as well as more than 200 other shipping labels used on packages sent from North Carolina in March 2026. Investigators focused on Green based on his alleged ties to North Carolina, a phone number linked to him, cryptocurrency tracing, and prior law-enforcement encounters, the affidavit states.

The FBI affidavit notes Green has four prior felony arrests, including drug offenses. It also references a 2022 search at a New Jersey residence associated with Green where officers allegedly seized distribution quantities of counterfeit oxycodone, Xanax, and Adderall pills, along with psilocybin mushrooms, ketamine, LSD, and heroin.

Federal court records describe controlled purchases from "Starlabs" by the FBI and DEA in New York and by the FBI in Cincinnati. Lab testing found fentanyl in purported oxycodone pills and in heroin samples. One package tied to an undercover buy tested positive for both methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Search warrants executed in July 2026 at a Jacksonville residence and a detached shed recovered a pill press, suspected narcotics, computer files, and encryption keys allegedly linking Green to "Starlabs," according to the affidavit.

The affidavit does not identify which specific drugs caused either fatal overdose.
