Dogs get the pool to themselves one last time before it closes for the season.
The City of Montgomery's annual Dog Swim is set for Monday, Sept. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Montgomery Community Pool, 8075 Hopewell Road. The event is the pool's final activity of the summer, giving four-legged residents a chance to paddle before the gates shut until next year.
Admission is free for pool members and their dogs. Non-members pay $3 per dog. No pre-registration is required.
The tradition has run for at least several years under different names. In 2023, the city billed the same end-of-season swim as "K9 Kerplunk," also held on Labor Day from 5 to 8 p.m. with the same pricing structure.
The city posted the event on its official website on Tuesday, describing it as a send-off to summer. The listing confirms the Dog Swim is the pool's last event before it closes for the season, though no specific closing date beyond Sept. 7 has been published.
