An 11-year-old child was found dead inside a Blue Ash home on Friday, Oct. 23, after police and fire crews responded to a welfare check on Belleview Avenue.
Officers and the fire department were called to the home that evening, the Blue Ash Police Department said, as first reported by Fox 19. WLWT and WCPO identified the location as the 4700 block of Belleview Avenue.
A woman found inside the home was also transported to the hospital, police said.
The child's name has not been released. The Hamilton County Coroner's Office has been called in to determine the cause of death, and results are pending.
Blue Ash police have not said whether the death is being investigated as a homicide, an accident or another manner. Police also have not disclosed the woman's identity, her condition or her relationship to the child, WCPO reported.
The exact dispatch time varies across regional reports. Fox 19 reported officers were called to the home around 7:45 p.m. WLWT reported approximately 7:42 p.m. WCPO reported shortly after 7:30 p.m.
Neighbors on Belleview Avenue told WLWT the news left them shaken. The neighborhood is home to many children and families, and residents said they never expected something like this to happen there.
"You just, you never know what's happening behind closed doors is just tragic, horrific," neighbor Katie Soellner told WLWT.
Neighbor Ben Richards told WLWT he pulled into his driveway to find the coroner's vehicle parked outside.
"It's just a shock to hear this is a young boy," Richards said.
Another neighbor, Addy Tonn, told WLWT the community wants to support those affected. "Our hearts go out to his family … anyone who is close to him," Tonn said. Neighbors said they are keeping the family in their prayers.
