Montgomery residents can set out unlimited yard waste at the curb starting Monday, Nov. 2, without buying stickers, according to a city announcement.

The unlimited weekly curbside collection program covers leaves, brush and bundled limbs and runs through Dec. 26, 2026. No stickers are required during that window.

That is a shift from the regular collection season, which limits each household to three bags, cans or bundles per week. Extra items normally cost $4 apiece in Rumpke waste stickers, according to the city's yard waste collection page.

The city said it will also provide collections on the first three Saturdays in January to coincide with Christmas tree and greenery pickup. The announcement did not list specific January dates.

What goes to the curb

Leaves go in regular 30-gallon trash cans, paper leaf bags or yard waste toters available through Rumpke. Cans and toters have a 75-pound weight limit. Once temperatures drop below freezing, all waste must go into bags because moisture causes cans and toters to freeze.

Plastic bags will not be picked up.

Yard waste toters must be labeled as yard waste. Unmarked toters will be skipped. Residents should place yard waste on the opposite side of the driveway from regular trash and leave lids off the cans.

Brush rules

Brush must be bundled in 4-foot-by-2-foot bundles fastened with cotton twine, with a 50-pound weight limit. Limbs must be cut to 4-foot lengths and no larger than 6 inches in diameter. All limbs go in a can or a bundle, and limbs should not reach more than 1 foot above the height of the can.

What's different from regular pickup

During the rest of the year, Montgomery's weekly yard waste collection covers one- and two-family residential homes but caps each household at three bags, cans or bundles, or one 90-gallon yard waste toter. Additional items require a $4 Rumpke sticker per item, and extra 90-gallon toters require three stickers each. Stickers are available at Montgomery City Hall during regular business hours.

The unlimited collection period removes those caps and the sticker requirement entirely.
