A family-owned medical equipment retailer has opened its first Ohio location at 9405A Kenwood Road in Blue Ash, stocking mobility aids and home safety modifications for older adults.
George's Medical Equipment, an Indiana-based company that describes itself as family-owned for more than 40 years, recently opened the Kenwood corridor showroom, Local 12 reported Aug. 27. The store carries canes, walkers, scooters, power wheelchairs and about 20 lift chairs on display in various sizes.
"One of our missions is to help people maintain their independence, that independent living at home," Stacie Trejo, the company's sales and marketing strategist, told Local 12.
The store focuses heavily on fall prevention. Trejo said falls often happen in bathrooms, and the company's home modification team can evaluate a customer's bathroom and recommend changes, including installing grab bars or a new shower.
Staff also walk customers through the showroom to help identify what they need, whether they arrive with a prescription or not.
George's delivers equipment to customers' homes and sends staff to set up products and explain how they work.
The store does not include a pharmacy.
George's Pharmacy & Medical Equipment operates seven pharmacy locations across Indiana plus several durable medical equipment-only stores. The Blue Ash shop is the company's only Ohio outpost, according to its locations page.
The store at 9405A Kenwood Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed Sundays. The phone number is (513) 452-5355.
