MadTree Brewing's newest restaurant opened its doors Tuesday at Summit Park, giving Blue Ash diners a full-service American bistro steps from the 130-acre park's trails and Great Lawn.

Alcove by MadTree, at 1000 Summit Place Suite A, fills the former Brown Dog Cafe space with a greenhouse bar, a living wall built by Urban Blooms, seasonal food, MadTree craft beer and cocktails. The restaurant serves lunch and dinner seven days a week and brunch on weekends, according to a Summit Park announcement.

The opening brings more than 60 new jobs to Blue Ash.

It marks MadTree's fourth restaurant overall and second Alcove location, following the original in Over-the-Rhine that opened in 2022. MadTree also operates Parks & Rec, a separate concept already at Summit Park.

Blue Ash residents get a direct return on every check. A portion of Alcove's revenue will go to Blue Ash Parks and Recreation to help maintain Summit Park, the same revenue-sharing arrangement already in place at MadTree Parks & Rec, according to a joint press release from MadTree and the city.

"We've received great feedback with MadTree Parks and Rec in Blue Ash, and we can't wait to showcase Alcove-Summit Park for more elevated date nights, celebrations, and memory-making occasions," MadTree CEO Rhiannon Hoeweler said in the company's Aug. 5 announcement.

Blue Ash City Council approved the lease agreement in April after months of negotiations between city staff and MadTree ownership over the former Brown Dog space. Construction began in spring 2026. Blue Ash Parks and Recreation Director Brian Kruse said in April that the city was eager to expand its partnership with MadTree and that the new restaurant would draw more visitors to park amenities.

The restaurant includes a private event space seating up to 50 and a separate nook for private dining and meetings. MadTree is also the only B Corp-certified brewery in Ohio, donating 1% of sales across all locations to local environmental nonprofits through its 1% for the Planet membership.

As we reported Aug. 5, the opening had been anticipated since the partnership was announced in April. Reservations are available through OpenTable.
