Sycamore football will try to avoid a winless regular season when the Aviators host Oak Hills on Friday, Oct. 9.

The Aviators enter Week 8 at 0-7 overall and 0-6 in the Greater Miami Conference after falling to Colerain 41-23 on Friday, Oct. 2. Sycamore has absorbed lopsided losses this fall, including a 41-0 shutout at the hands of Middletown on Sept. 25. Two regular-season games remain.

Oak Hills arrives in better shape. The Highlanders are 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the GMC after beating Hamilton 42-14 on Oct. 2, according to WLWT. Running back Anquan Evans powered that win, accounting for four touchdowns as Oak Hills scored the final 35 points after trailing 14-7.

The Highlanders have been capable of big offensive nights all season. In Week 3, Oak Hills rallied from a 31-7 halftime deficit against Lakota East before falling 31-28, according to WLWT's recap. Quarterback Lincoln Schreiber threw two fourth-quarter touchdown passes in that comeback bid. Receiver Cordell Ball caught seven passes for 149 yards and two scores.

Oak Hills also has playoff implications riding on Friday's result. The Highlanders sat 10th in the OHSAA Division I, Region 4 computer ratings as of Sept. 29, carrying a 7.4167 rating, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The top 12 teams in each region qualify for the postseason when the final ratings are released Oct. 25. A win would strengthen Oak Hills' position. A loss could push the Highlanders toward the bubble.

Sycamore did not appear in the top 16 of those same ratings. At 0-7, the Aviators are out of the playoff picture and playing for pride in the final two weeks.

Sycamore's Week 9 opponent has not been confirmed in available schedules.

Kickoff is Friday, Oct. 9, at Sycamore.
