A strong cold front could bring heavy rain, gusty winds and localized flooding to the Tri-State by Thursday, Nov. 5, FOX19 meteorologist Brad Maushart reported Oct. 30.
Maushart designated Nov. 5 and Friday, Nov. 6, as First Alert Weather Days. Heavy rain, storms and gusty winds are expected Nov. 5, with gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph or higher. Some storms could become strong with damaging wind gusts and locally heavy rainfall.
Localized flooding is a concern, Maushart said, especially if multiple rounds of rain move across the same neighborhoods. Showers and drizzle are expected to linger Nov. 6 as colder air rushes in behind the front.
The temperature swing will be sharp. After several days in the 70s, highs are forecast to fall into the upper 50s on Nov. 6 and the low to mid 50s by the weekend of Nov. 7-8. Overnight lows will tumble into the upper 30s and low 40s.
Mild Halloween first
Trick-or-treaters in Blue Ash and Montgomery head out 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, under mostly dry skies. Maushart's forecast calls for clouds with highs near 70 and only a 30% chance of afternoon and evening showers.
Sunday, Nov. 1, brings the end of daylight saving time and another mostly dry day with highs in the mid 70s. Monday, Nov. 2, and Tuesday, Nov. 3, stay unusually mild in the low to mid 70s before the pattern shifts. Tuesday turns breezy with gusts over 20 mph possible.
Rain and storm chances climb Wednesday, Nov. 4, especially later in the day and overnight. Maushart said the exact timing is still being refined, but Wednesday night into Thursday looks "increasingly unsettled" as the cold front approaches.
Yard waste collection starts Nov. 2
Montgomery's unlimited weekly curbside yard waste collection begins Monday, Nov. 2, and runs through Dec. 26. No stickers are required.
Leaves go in regular 30-gallon trash cans, paper leaf bags or yard waste toters. Brush must be bundled in 4-foot by 2-foot bundles fastened with cotton twine. Plastic bags will not be picked up. Residents with questions can call 513-891-2424.
Sunshine should gradually return the weekend of Nov. 7-8, Maushart said, leaving the area with what he called "a much more seasonable November feel."
