A driver was cut by flying glass after someone shot into his car on Interstate 275 near Princeton Pike on Thursday, Oct. 1. Springdale police responded to westbound I-275 at the 42.6 mile marker around 3:30 a.m., according to WLWT.
Officers found the victim standing outside his vehicle on the right-side berm. A bullet had shattered one of his windows, and broken glass cut him. He had not been struck by the round itself. Police did not specify how serious his injuries were.
The confrontation started on I-75, Springdale Police Chief Thomas Butler told FOX19 NOW. The victim noticed erratic driving by another motorist and began recording the vehicle, police said. Both drivers continued onto I-275.
As they neared the Princeton Pike exit, the victim tried to pass the other vehicle to reach the off-ramp. The suspect's vehicle pulled alongside, and someone inside fired a shot into the victim's car, shattering a window, Butler said.
The victim told FOX19 NOW he saw the other driver roll down his window and point directly at him.
"I saw him and got scared," the victim said. "I braked … emergency … and he shoots towards me." He asked to remain anonymous.
He pulled onto the berm, where officers determined the bullet had not struck him. He was treated for cuts from the broken glass.
The victim provided police with the suspect vehicle's license plate number. Investigators identified the truck as a 2006 Ford F-250 and later located it, along with the suspected driver, at the vehicle's registered address on Grandin Avenue, police said.
Springdale police have not released the suspect's name or announced charges. The department's press release did not say whether the suspected driver was taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
The Princeton Pike interchange connects I-275 to routes used by Montgomery, Blue Ash and Sycamore Township commuters. Anyone who witnessed the vehicles on I-75 or I-275 is asked to call the Springdale Police Department Investigations Section at (513) 346-5760.
