Montgomery families can mark their calendars: the city's annual Trick or Treat runs Saturday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The event goes on rain or shine, according to an announcement on the city's website published Wednesday, Sept. 9.
The Montgomery Police Department released safety tips alongside the date. The department urged adults to accompany young children, use crosswalks and stay on sidewalks. Children should not run while trick-or-treating because it increases the risk of falls and makes them harder for drivers to spot.
Light-colored costumes, reflective tape on clothing and bags, and face paint instead of masks all improve visibility, the department said. Glow sticks and flashlights also help children see where they are walking.
Drivers on the road during those hours should slow down in neighborhoods, stay alert and pull in and out of driveways carefully.
