Bengals rookie defensive lineman Landon Robinson and his mother Patrice Robinson are bringing a free family event to Kenwood Theatre on Saturday, August 1, with a movie screening, youth mental health panel and back-to-school supply giveaway.
Spots filled fast. Organizers opened a second theater at Kenwood to fit more families, Patrice Robinson told WCPO on Monday.
The evening marks the first public event for the Landon Robinson Foundation, a nonprofit the mother-son duo launched about eight weeks ago to connect young people with mental health resources. Patrice Robinson serves as CEO.
Robinson said his military background makes community service feel natural, and that Cincinnati has embraced him and his family since he arrived. He told WCPO on Monday that his Bengals teammates inspired him to act.
"I've seen the Joe Burrow Foundation. I've seen Ted Karras' foundation and so many other guys finding ways to give back to the community," Robinson said. "It's super cool to see my teammates wanting to do that."
Robinson, a seventh-round pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and earned his commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps Reserve before signing with Cincinnati. At Navy, he was named the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2025 and a first-team Associated Press All-American, leading the Midshipmen with 8.5 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks.
He's launching the foundation during the opening week of Bengals training camp, which runs Sunday, July 26 through Sunday, August 16 at the team's downtown Cincinnati headquarters.
Patrice Robinson said the August 1 event reflects a family tradition of marking the start of a new school year. The foundation's mission centers on youth suicide awareness, education, and movement-focused programs that use physical activity to build resilience, according to its website.
Long-term, the Robinsons envision a dedicated mental health center offering clinical evaluations and support. Nearer-term plans include scholarships and networking opportunities for high school seniors, Patrice Robinson said.
