A Blue Ash event venue wants to put up a wall sign bigger than the city's zoning code allows, and the Board of Zoning Appeals will decide whether to let it happen.
1901 Events, located at 10627 Techwoods Circle in Blue Ash's Techwoods office park, filed an appeal to install a wall sign that would push the total sign area on one wall face above the city's standard limit of 0.5 times the linear foot frontage, according to the city's BZA agenda posted Monday. The case is designated BZA 2026-12.
The board will hear the appeal at its next regular meeting on Monday, August 10, at 6:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Blue Ash Municipal & Safety Center, 4343 Cooper Road.
What the code says
Blue Ash's zoning code caps wall signage at 0.5 times the linear foot frontage of the wall face it's mounted on. Any sign that would exceed that threshold requires a variance from the BZA.
The board has granted similar requests before. In December 2023, the BZA unanimously approved a wall sign variance for Fastsigns at 10234 Alliance Road under the same standard, with Planning & Zoning Administrator Paul Kleier explaining the code requirements to the board before the vote.
The address
The Techwoods Circle address sits in Blue Ash's corporate corridor near the I-275, I-71, and I-75 interchange. The location has previously housed event venues, and public listings currently associate it with a wedding and event space that accommodates up to 350 guests.

The same August 10 meeting includes a second new hearing. Brian Faessler, at 9650 Conklin Road, is seeking variances to allow a front yard setback less than 40 feet, a side yard setback less than 5 feet and a rear yard setback less than 25 feet (BZA 2026-13).
BZA Chair John Meyer will preside, joined by Vice Chair Carleton Brown, Secretary Cheryl Blakeman, members Joe Hoelker and Zeeshan Pasha and alternate Lee Marshall.
